The Crossing event in Asheville, North Carolina

It’s a great honor to be invited by the Great Smoky Mountains Association to join them for an October 26th screening of the two short documentaries I directed about the Interstate 90 wildlife crossings, Cascade Crossroads and Critter Crossings In The Cascades, in support of Safe Passage: The I-40 Pigeon River Gorge Wildlife Crossing Project. This one-night film festival is a free public event to support the efforts of a regional coalition to install wildlife crossings into Interstate 40 through  Great Smoky Mountains National Park, and will include a Q&A with Jeffrey Hunter and myself, and more. Cascade Crossroads and Critter Crossings, created with Kristoffer Browne and Sandy Dang Asher, are winners of several awards and chronicle the amazing and uplifting story of how different agencies and organizations like Washington State Dept. of Transportation, Okanogan-Wenatchee National Forest, Conservation Northwest and so many amazing people and organizations came together in support of incorporating wildlife crossings into highway improvements on I-90. The crossings are a wildly successful re-connection of the north and south Cascade Mountains for so many species, and the I-40 coalition are working hard to see the same happen in western North Carolina and eastern Tennessee.
